Dobra Pop Goli Soda – Detailed Review
For decades, goli soda has held a distinct place in Indian drinking culture, dating back to the mid-20th century. However, the popularity of mass-produced aerated drinks eventually contributed to the downfall of Goli Soda. However, Goli Soda is again seen making a comeback today.
Did you know that each Indian region has its unique variation of marble soda? Goli soda in the south, Banta or Kancha soda in the north, and Fotash jawl in the east.
The word Dobra is a sum of: the POLISH word meaning Good & Great + the INDIAN word Dobara meaning Again & Continue. Dobra Pop Goli Soda is available in 6 exciting flavors – Mango, Grape, Apple Mojito, Blueberry, Kokum Jeera and Nimbu Masala. We have put to test 3 of these flavors – Mango, Grape and Apple Mojito.
The packaging of all the 3 reviewed variants is quite interesting. It has a nostalgic touch – which is essentially like a banta bottle with a marble at the neck. However, this is made of plastic. Each of them retails at a cost of Rs. 65 for 225 ml bottle. These have a shelf life of 6 months.
Our experience with each variant with the relevant pros and cons are discussed in this section below:
1. Mango Goli Soda
Our Review Experience
First things first, the bottle is really fun to open! All you have to do is pop the marble down to access the soda. The Pop Goli Soda Mango variant boasts a fresh mango flavor. The flavor is reminiscent of biting into a mango bite.
The only drawback here is the high sweetness level and the relatively low fizziness. It lacks the sharp fizz that sodas are known for.

- Delightful mango flavor
- Fun packaging
- High on sweetness
- This lacks a crisp fizz

2. Apple Mojito Goli Soda
Our Review Experience
This variant of Goli Soda delivers a primary apple juice-like flavor which is quite similar to the popular apple beverage ‘Appy’. The secondary flavor is the subtle hint of mint which adds a refreshing twist. The soda is notably sweet.
This beverage has a vibrant green hue that looks quite appealing and eye-catching. However, the drink is not fizzy and lacks the refreshing effervescence.
Main Ingredients
Mineral Water, Sugar, Carbon Dioxide, Green Apple Juice (1%), Mint Extract, Nature Identical Flavoring Substances (Lemon, Mint), Acidity Regulator (E330), Permitted Synthetic Food Colour (E143, E102, E133), Permitted Class II and Preservatives (E202, E211, E224).
3. Grape Goli Soda
Our Review Experience
Unlike the above variants, this Pop Goli Soda does not deliver the flavors as promised. The grape flavor is not really pronounced and feels almost negligible. The sweetness is present which is quite similar to the other variants. However, the fizziness is extremely low. The lack of fizz is one of the reasons why the drink appears flat.

Final Words
In summary, the packaging of this soda is extremely nostalgic, featuring a kancha/marble in the bottle. However, the flavors and fizz fall short of expectations. The ingredient list could have been cleaner while the packaging is the highlight of the review. Among the flavors we reviewed, the mango flavor was preferred over the rest, followed by the Apple Mojito flavor. The grape flavor however was the least favorite, which almost had a mild cough-syrup-like aftertaste.
