Review Factors
What are we expecting? We are hunting for biryani kits that offer ease of preparation, an authentic flavor profile and good quality of rice without spending too much time in the kitchen.
To find out the Best Biryani Kit Brands in India, our review parameters are set as follows:
1. Flavor
This is arguably the most critical parameter when evaluating biryani kits. We are evaluating the following here:
- Whole Spices: A well-prepared Hyderabadi biryani should have a rich and aromatic flavor profile, primarily derived from the use of whole spices. We are looking at how prominent these flavors are.
- The Biryani Paste: These kits come with pre-made biryani paste/powder designed to simplify the cooking process. Is it rich and aromatic? Does it deliver a balanced taste that mimics traditional biryani?
- Overall rice-paste/masala ratio. Bites shouldn’t feel empty or plain.
2. Quality of Rice
The ideal biryani rice should meet these key criteria:
- It must be fluffy, with the grains staying separate rather than clumping together.
- The rice should absorb the aromatic flavors of the spices.
- Length of the grain
- Aroma of basmati
3. Overall Experience
Ease of Preparation
- Ease of preparation refers to how easy it is to cook the biryani using the kit. The packaging should provide clear and easy-to-follow instructions, including cooking times and other details. There shouldn’t be too many ingredients needed from home, as that nullifies the point of a kit.
Curation of the Kit
- The kit should include all the necessary components – biryani paste, rice, whole spices and raita seasoning. The more detailed, the better.
Value For Money
- It should offer a competitive price without compromising on the quality.
Selection Criteria For Biryani Kits
How did we select the contenders for our Biryani Kits Brands in India?
1. In our quest to find the best biryani kits, we prioritized those Biryani Kits that are readily available on most e-commerce platforms and those that have a significant popularity among consumers.
2. All the biryani kits we selected are labeled as “Hyderabadi Biryani.”
3. For our review process, we opted for vegetarian biryani kits. Why, you ask?
- Our testing coincided with the Navratri week, where a lot of people observe fasting or stick to a vegetarian diet. Since World Biryani Day falls on Navami in 2024, we chose to respect the sentiments of our panel members by avoiding meat-based recipes during this time.
- Plus, one of the brands only suggested the vegetarian option on their pack. To standardize the evaluation process and not be unfair to a particular brand, we opted to test them for a veggie option.
Review Process
Each biryani kit comes with its own set of cooking instructions, including specific marination processes and cooking times.
We prepared these biryanis by following the exact same instructions as given on the pack to ensure a fair and standardized evaluation.
Best Biryani Kit Brands in India
In this section, we highlight the specifics of the brands we tested and outline their respective flavor and heat level, along with individual ratings.
1. Paradise Hyderabadi Biryani Kit (Top Pick)
Our Verdict
The Paradise Biryani Kit truly stands out with its exceptional flavor and aroma, making it Mishry’s Top Pick among the Biryani kits reviewed.
- The biryani masala, provided in the form of a paste, has a beautiful, fresh, and robust aroma of fried onions and a blend of whole spices. The paste has a deep red color.
- The long, fragrant, and perfectly textured basmati rice and fresh whole spices were the standout features of this biryani kit.
- The whole spices included in the kit are equally impressive, not just in their appearance and size, but also in their strong, aromatic presence.
While the lack of a raita masala may be a minor drawback, it doesn’t significantly impact the overall experience. The kit more than compensates with its rich flavor and ease of preparation, making it the tastiest biryani kit out of the four reviewed.

- This kit does not include any raita masala, but it is not a deal breaker.

2. Daawat Biryani Kit – Also Recommended
Our Verdict
The rice grains were long and fragrant, with a bold aroma dominated by green cardamom. However, the whole spices appeared dull. The biryani rice is long grain and well separated.
The Daawat Biryani Kit delivers well on its promise and offers a well-balanced flavor profile. Impressively, despite being a packaged product, there were no artificial or industrial flavors.

3. Kohinoor Biryani – Recommended
Our Verdict
The Kohinoor Biryani Kit delivers a delicious biryani experience. The intensity of whole spices—like cloves, cardamom, and cinnamon—feels slightly muted. On a positive note, the quality of the rice is commendable – the grains are long and cook well.
The preparation process is straightforward and user-friendly. This makes it a convenient option for those who want a quick and easy biryani meal without much hassle. However, while the kit offers convenience and decent quality, the flavor intensity is lower than our winner.

4. Mama’s Love
Our Verdict
The Mama’s Love Biryani Kit leaves much to be desired regarding taste. The flavor could be better as it lacks the rich and aromatic spices one expects from a good biryani. Despite the rice being of decent length and quality, the overall dish remains insipid.
Moreover, the biryani kit does not include a garam masala pouch nor does it come with a proper instruction card. The instructions printed on the back are full of errors—misspelled words, missing sentences, and even incorrect steps, which can be frustrating for anyone following along.
Lastly, the cooking method also seems to be cumbersome. Unlike most kits that provide a ready-to-use biryani paste, you are required to mix the biryani masala with curd and cook it with vegetables before proceeding. This not only complicates the process but also detracts from the convenience that one would expect from a pre-packaged meal kit.
Based on our review, this isn’t a biryani kit we would recommend to others. We chose this brand only because it repeatedly appeared during our e-commerce market research. It is also the most expensive of all four.

Recommendations & Awards
Paradise Biryani Kit stands out with the best overall taste. The quality of the spices and rice in Paradise is exceptional. Although it lacks a raita masala, it isn’t a deal breaker because the biryani tastes incredibly fresh. It’s also highly convenient with clear, easy-to-follow instructions.
Additionally, we also recommend both Daawat Biryani Kit and Kohinoor Biryani Kit. These are flavorful however they don’t quite match Paradise.
Between the two, Daawat edges ahead with its more intense and flavorful masala, whereas Kohinoor has a slightly milder intensity.
At the bottom of the list is Mama’s Love, which has not so clear instructions, minimal flavor, and a cumbersome preparation process.
Final Words
In conclusion, Paradise Biryani Kit emerges as the clear winner. Its bold aroma, flavorful spices, and ease of preparation make it a standout, even without the raita masala. While both Daawat and Kohinoor deliver solid biryani experiences, Daawat takes a slight edge due to its more intense masala.
Overall, if you’re looking for the best biryani kit, we highly recommend trying the one by Paradise.
