Our Review Factors
Our Expectations? We are looking for quick to cook cup noodles with a satisfying, bouncy texture and a desirable Korean inspired flavor with a power-packed chilli flavor.
We have set the following key parameters for our review:
1. Taste
Korean flavor is a blend of bold, spicy, savory, and sweet elements. It often includes ingredients like garlic, ginger, sesame oil, soy sauce, and fermented products. How appetizing is the flavor of the Korean sauce? Does this taste fresh or did it have any undesirable aftertaste? How are the noodles seasoned?
2. Texture
Do these noodles have a firm bite or do they turn out to be mushy? We evaluated how well the vegetables and noodles rehydrated, assessed the crunchiness of the toppings, and determined if all these elements are well in sync. The sauce to noodle ratio was also an important aspect of the review.
3. Other Parameters
We also scanned the price, packaging, shelf life and ingredient list.

Price + Packaging
These noodles come in a brown and yellow color cup. A 100 gm cup retails at a cost of Rs. 75 and offers 10 months of shelf life. The lid of this cup has perforations that allow excess water to drain. This is a thoughtful solution to the problem of water cup noodles.
What’s Inside The Cup? The noodle block, Korean sauce sachet, a pack of dehydrated vegetables, and a pack of peanut & garlic topping. The cup also contains a foldable plastic fork.
Main Ingredients
There were four components in this cup noodle pack. The key ingredients for each component is as follows:
- Noodles – whole wheat flour (905), Refined wheat flour (10%), Water, Salt
- Korean Flavor Sauce Pouch – Tomato paste, chilli paste, red chilli chilli flakes, garlic powder, I+G, Soya sauce, sesame oil, soybean oil, aromat powder, sesame powder, and vinegar.
- Veggie Pouch – Carrot, Cabbage and Spring Onion
- Toppings – Fried garlic and peanuts
We appreciate the fairly clean and detailed list of ingredients.
What is (I+G)? I+G is the combination of disodium inosinate and disodium guanylate. The primary purpose of the compounds is to enhance the flavor and amplify the savory taste known as umami.
How Did We Review This?
As instructed on the pack, we followed the below mentioned steps:
- Firstly, we mixed noodles and dehydrated vegetables in boiling water.
- We allowed it to sit for 3 minutes and then drained the excess water.
- Once the excess water was drained, we mixed the sauce.
- For garnishing, we added the peanut and garlic topping.
Our Detailed Experience
Taste
The taste of the whole wheat noodles is not very appealing and has a grainy texture that made each bite less enjoyable.
The flavor of the sauce is delicious but it lacks the spicy, smoky Korean flavor punch we were looking for. It boasts a satisfying blend of soy, chili, and garlic flavors. The addition of peanut and garlic toppings adds a nice layer of crunch to the noodles. While the inclusion of veggies did not make any major difference to the taste.
Texture
The noodles, despite their long and bouncy texture, were a major letdown. We did not like the overall bite of these noodles as the watery mouthfeel persisted even after precise draining.
MasterChow does offer some of the most exciting range of sauces however the quality of noodles they offer has room for a lot of improvement.
Unfortunately, the Masterchow noodles failed to meet the same level of satisfaction you get from other cup noodles. Our previous review of MasterChow Instant Chowmein Cup Noodles also highlighted the noodle texture as a primary factor that led down the product’s overall rating.
