Jalebi is a popular Indian dessert that is made by deep-frying maida flour batter in concentric circles and then soaked in sugar syrup. That description, though, doesn’t even come close to how passionately this dessert is loved across India! A fresh kadhai dishing out hot jalebis at a wedding party or function is usually the busiest station on the buffet. And, eating jalebis at home by getting them from the local halwai would mean that these have to be consumed while they are still hot. Now, if the food adventurist in you is keen to try making jalebis at home, Gits’ Jalebi Dessert Mix can give you a happy start. We tried this in our review kitchen recently and were quite impressed by its sheer ease of use. What about the flavors? Let’s find out.

#FirstImpression Of Gits Jalebi Dessert Mix
If the task of making jalebis at home seems daunting to you, don’t let it! This Gits Jalebi Dessert Mix really makes it simple.
However, when it comes to the job of making jalebi, there is a certain skill involved that we cannot ignore. Traditional halwais take years to master that art of crafting the perfect circles of batter that eventually lead to symmetrical, same-size jalebis.
Obviously, this product is not meant for professional halwais. It is meant for cooking enthusiasts who want to give this a shot at home, and who, in all likelihood, will try this at home for the first time with a kit like this.
For a regular buyer of this product, this kit definitely works. But because the ease of making jalebis using this kit will matter more to a new user, an amateur if you like, we decided to ask our video producer to try her hand at making these jalebis. With no background in making jalebi’s ever, her experience is similar to what a first-time-user would encounter.
Gits Jalebi Dessert Mix comes with two components: a pack of batter premix and the bottle, which makes it convenient for anyone to make jalebis. The instructions on the packet are very clear and to the point, enabling someone who has never made jalebis, to give it a shot.
In fact, the instructions for the sugar syrup were also spot on, and consistency and quantity of the syrup turned out just right for 25 jalebis.
Creating the perfect circles for the jalebis may be tough in the beginning, but eventually, you observe what works best in terms of the temperature of the oil, hand movements to create reasonably okay shaped Jalebis.
Even before being dipped in the sugar syrup or chashni, the jalebis taste good and are mildly sweet. Irrespective of the shape of jalebi, the crunch and bite are very much there. Once you dip them in the sugar syrup, all the flavors come together. What you get are really tasty jalebis, cooked in the comfort of your kitchen, with quality oil and satisfactory hygiene.
As we mentioned earlier, how good-looking and symmetrical the jalebis are will depend on the skill/expertise and experience of the cook. You will get around 20-25 jalebis, as suggested in the box, but it may depend on the size of the circles you make, along with trials and errors.
The pictures we have shared here are true pictures of the kind of results a first-time user will achieve. Don’t let the uneven shape dishearten you! The flavors are really fresh, and subtle.
So, if you are making jalebi for the first time, make sure you get two packs. By the next pack, you should be really good at this. And there is something quite satisfying knowing that you just created jalebis in your kitchen!
