Mishry Rating
Summary
These cookies effectively mask the otherwise unappealing flavor of protein. We also enjoyed the soft, chewy texture as advertised. However, despite the high protein content, the presence of additives undermines the cookies' overall purpose. This rating applies to both the choco almond and choco chip cookies.
Finding snacks that strike a perfect balance between flavor and nutrition can often be challenging. Protein cookies have emerged as a quick and easy way to boost your protein intake while snacking, but not all protein cookies are created equal.
In this review, we tested 4 variants of Rite Bite Max Protein Breakfast cookies. Our evaluation will assess the flavor, texture, nutritional value, and overall appeal of these cookies.

Our Review Factors
What are we looking for? We primarily placed our focus on the taste, texture and nutritional label of these cookies.
We carefully assessed the quality of the ingredients, paying close attention to the types of sweeteners, fat sources, and presence of any additives or preservatives used.
1. Taste
Under this segment, we checked:
- The overall taste of the cookies
- Balance of sweetness
- Freshness of the nuts and seeds used
- How well is the taste of protein masked in the cookie
2. Texture
The brand advertises these cookies as soft and chewy and that’s exactly how we wanted them to be as well. We also evaluated the texture (crunch/chewiness) of the additional ingredients, such as chocolate chips, nuts, seeds, or raisins.
3. Nutri Label
We reviewed the entire ingredient list to identify the various sources of protein included. Additionally, we checked to see if the cookies contained any artificial sweeteners, flavors, or additives. How is the overall ingredient list? Does the cookie meet the claims written on the pack?
To provide a comprehensive evaluation, we also assessed the product’s price, packaging, and shelf life.

How Did We Test The Cookies?
We tasted the cookies as is. Then following the package instructions, we warmed the cookies in the microwave for 15 seconds before tasting them.
Overall Review Experience
Taste
All the cookies are tasty and manage to mask the unpleasant flavor of protein quite well. The toppings add a nice layer of flavor to all the cookies.
However, we did not like the vanilla flavor in the case of the Oats & Raisins and Nuts & Seeds cookies. It comes off as quite artificial, which is a bit disappointing.
In contrast, the chocolate cookies fare better in terms of taste, with a less sugary profile. The choco almond variant, labeled as “no added sugar,” stands out as the least sweet, featuring generous chunks almonds that taste fresh. Following this variant is the choco chip cookie.
Texture
In terms of texture, the cookies deliver on their promise of being soft and chewy. We tried them both warm and at room temperature, as suggested. On warming the cookies, the taste of protein becomes more pronounced. Toppings like nuts and seeds provided ample crunch, while the raisins were soft and chewy.
Nutritional Label Analysis
The ingredient list for all the 4 breakfast cookies is quite detailed. It comprises of:
- Protein Blend: For each flavor, the brand has clearly mentioned the percentage of protein blend used. It consists of – high-protein peanut flour, whey protein concentrate, whey protein, and soy protein isolate. There are diverse protein sources added to these cookies.
- Millets and Pulses blend: The use of several flours (wheat, oats, quinoa, ragi, roasted chickpea flour and amaranth puff) demonstrates an effort to incorporate whole grains and nutritional diversity.
- Sweeteners and Additives: In addition to the above prime ingredients, it also contains sugar, invert syrup, Edible Vegetable Fat (Hydrogenated), Emulsifiers and humectants.
While the protein content in these cookies is commendable for a “breakfast cookie,” the ingredient list cannot be overlooked (please refer to the details for each variant below). Overall, the ingredient list could have been cleaner which could have helped the product grab a better rating.
The presence of hydrogenated fats and other additives might deter consumers seeking clean, minimally processed snacks.
Who Is This For?
For those meticulous about their diet—counting calories, measuring protein intake, and avoiding artificial additives — these cookies are not something they might pick. Additionally, those who carefully read ingredient lists and nutritional information would likely avoid these cookies if they contain unhealthy additives or excessive amounts of sugar.
These cookies might be picked by someone less focused on scrutinizing labels but looking for a convenient snack.

Yes. In addition to the 4 flavors we reviewed, these cookies are also available in these variants:
- Max Protein Trail Mix Cookie
- Max Protein Cashew Delite Cookie
While the cookies are labeled as ‘breakfast cookies’, we wouldn’t recommend it being a whole meal. Pair it with a glass of milk, as suggested, and this will be substantially filling. That said, it does not mean that this cookie can be consumed as part of a balanced diet/meal replacement.
Yes. The Max Protein Choco Almond contains artificial sweetener – Sucralose.
Our Verdict
The chocolate varieties of the Rite Bite Max Protein Breakfast Cookies are better in taste compared to the other two. These have a lower sugar content. Texture-wise, all the cookies are soft and chewy and justify the claims of the brand.
The protein content of these breakfast cookies is commendable and aligns well with what one might expect from a protein-focused snack. However, the overall benefit is somewhat diminished by the cluttered ingredient list.
We really had a hard time placing the target audience for this product because those who are meticulously counting calories, and meeting their protein requirements through cleaner sources are too well-informed to consume something like this.
Not ignorant, but slightly misinformed folks who only read the front of the label with the protein claims might pick it for a snack.
Having said that, we are not saying that the protein claims are incorrect, but the fact is that this protein content comes with a whole lot of artificial baggage that no one would like to put in their bodies regularly.
Having it once in a while as a fun snack? Sure. Relying on it as your go-to snack? Maybe re-think!
