How We Heated
To review this pasta, we heated it up using the microwave method following the exact instructions as mentioned.
The following section covers details on each variant including the pros, cons, cooking process, taste and texture.
1. Cheesy Pasta
Price + Packaging
Tata Sampann Yumside Cheesy Pasta is priced at Rs. 119 (285 gm). It offers a shelf life of one year. This comes in an orange color box pack.
Appearance
As we opened the box, we could spot fusilli pasta with lots of sliced black olives and corn. Visually, it looked appealing. The best part was that there was no oily layer on top.
Aroma
The aroma of this pasta was quite cheesy and olive-like.
Main Ingredients
Water, Durum Wheat Semolina Fusilli Pasta (13.8%), Processed Cheese (13%) [Cheese, Water, Milk Solids, Emulsifiers (INS 331 (iii), INS 452(i)), INS 339 (iii)), lodized Salt, Acidity regulator (INS 270), Preservative (INS 235)], Sweet Corn (5.2%), Black Olives (1.7%), Onion, Starch, lodized Salt, Garlic (0.5%), Refined Sunflower Oil, Red Chilli Flakes (0.07%), Nature-Identical Flavouring Substance, and Thickener (INS 412).
The ingredients for the Sprinkler Seasoning include: Spices & Condiments (60%) [Mixed herbs & Condiments, Oregano (5%)], lodized Salt, and Anticaking Agent (INS 551).
Allergens: Contains Milk, Wheat.
Taste
Taste-wise, the freshness was missing here. The stale smell and taste of the cheese brought down the overall experience. Additionally, it has a dominant taste of olives which might not be preferred by everyone.
Although well-seasoned, this isn’t a tasty meal. It lacks the creaminess of a classic cheesy white sauce. You will definitely need a generous sprinkling of the seasoning to make it taste better.
Texture
The pasta is overcooked and lacks a firm bite. But when compared to tomato pasta, the texture of this pasta was slightly better.
- Quick to heat up.
- Overall it is well-seasoned.
- Appearance-wise, looks appetizing.
- The texture is marginally better than the tomato pasta.
- It does not taste fresh.
- The processed cheese has a stale smell and taste.
- It lacks the characteristic creaminess of a white sauce pasta.
- The dominant flavor of olives might not be loved by everyone.

2. Tomato Pasta
Price + Packaging
The Tomato Pasta by Tata Yumside Sampann also comes in an orange color box. This variant is priced at Rs. 129 for a 285 gm pack. The shelf life is one year.
Appearance
Inside the pack, this pasta includes tomato sauce, fusilli pasta, and we could also spot a few plump corn spread here and there. The tomato sauce looks quite oily.
Aroma
The aroma of this pasta is similar to that of tined corn and tomato sauce. It also smells slightly herby.
Main Ingredients
The main ingredients include : Water, Durum Wheat Semolina Fusilli Pasta (13.8%), Tomato (10.8%), Sweet Corn (6.9%), Tomato Paste, Onion, Milk Cream (2.6%), Refined Sunflower Oil, Skimmed Milk Powder, lodized Salt, Butter, Refined Sugar, Refined Wheat Flour (Maida), Celery, Garlic, Basil Leaves (0.3%), Red Chilli Flakes, Yeast Extract Powder, Black Pepper, Acidity Regulator (INS 330), Thickener (INS 412), and Natural Chilli Extract.
The ingredients for the Sprinkler Seasoning are : Spices & Condiments (60%) [Mixed herbs & Condiments, Oregano (5%)], lodized Salt, and Anticaking Agent (INS 551).
Allergens – Contains Milk, Wheat.
Taste
An average-tasting pasta. The tomato sauce lends a delicious sweet and tangy taste. Considering this was a heat and eat pasta, it does not taste industrial. But it isn’t supremely fresh either. It misses out on the fresh, natural tang of tomatoes.
Compared to cheese pasta, the sauce tastes better in this one.
Texture
Coming to the texture, there is vast scope of improvement here. This pasta was too soft and squishy and lacked a firm bite.
When it comes to cooking any kind of pasta, it is crucial to pay a little extra attention. To get that ideal texture of pasta, it is always best to involve some form of fresh cooking. There are rare cases when any heat and eat turns out excellent in terms of the texture.
