What were the parameters we set while reviewing The Fresh Needs Crunchy Peanut Butter?

The overall nutrition quotient was a significant parameter. We also gauged the flavor and texture of this nut butter. 

1. Taste

Peanut butter has a naturally nutty but sweet and salty taste. This is specifically for unflavored variants of peanut butter. If it tastes bitter or rancid, chances are that it has gone bad. 

How is the balance between jaggery, peanuts and salt? Do the peanuts taste fresh? Are they roasted?

2. Texture

We were expecting a smooth peanut butter with medium-sized peanut bits.

Were the bits crunchy or had they turned soggy, with a soft bite? Are the crunchy bits ample or added scarcely?

Since the USP of this brand is the manufacturing date, freshness and shelf life, we put those under the microscope as well.

Price + Packaging

This peanut butter comes in a glass jar. It has a comin graphic-inspired label that boldly states the date of manufacturing. One jar holds 500 grams of product and is priced at Rs 499/- The brand says the peanut butter should be consumed within six months, if stored under refrigeration. 

Main Ingredients

This is made with three ingredients only. These are roasted peanuts, jaggery, and pink salt. Thumbs up on the clean, uncomplicated ingredient list. 

A 15-gram serving offers 83 Kcal with 7.1 grams of fat, 2.9 grams of carbohydrates, and 3.7 grams of protein. It also has 1.3 grams of fiber. 

When compared to other sweetened peanut butter variants, the difference was marginal. The Fresh Needs PB has slightly lower calories with more carbohydrates, and a similar protein and fat content. 

How did we test this?

To check the flavor and consistency of this peanut butter, we tasted it as it and over toasted slices of plain and multigrain bread. 

Aroma + Appearance

This had such a fresh and nutty aroma, we were delighted. This was very much like that of freshly blitz peanuts. There was no oil separation either, which was another indicator towards freshness. It had the classic ocher hue. 

Taste + Texture

This peanut butter wasn’t thick (like semi-solified) It was way more flowy, liquidy and had a generous amount of peanut bits. These bits had a very desirable crunch and the remainder was a smooth, creamy nut butter.

As for the flavor, this essentially tasted like fresh, premium, roasted peanuts. Since this contain jaggery, it has that mild sweetness which is beautifully balanced out by the pink salt. This balance between sweet and saltiness was appreciated by all our team.
