Rotis or chapatis are a staple in most Indian households. Widely enjoyed with dals, curries, sabzis, and meats, rotis are generally eaten as part of daily meals. These are mostly stored in casseroles that help them stay warm for a longer period. The interior of the casseroles is made of stainless steel that helps rotis maintain temperature. However, most of the time, these casseroles form steam when closed leaving the lowermost roti moist and soggy. While there are creative ways to keep them from becoming moist, there are also available in the market, stainless steel roti casseroles that come with drip down vents that prevent steam from collecting, thereby keeping the rotis, idlis, and parathas warm and fresh.
We found these quite interesting and probably an intelligent solution to this everyday problem. So we decided to review and put 4 popular, and easily available roti casseroles to test to see which one does the best job. So, which casserole is best?

Our Review Process
We chose four best casseroles in India that offer these roti servers and tested them several times by using each of them for over 2 weeks. We also did a side-by-side comparison to gauge which one keeps the rotis from becoming soggy. Some of them also claimed to keep the rotis warm as well.
For the side-by-side comparisons, we made fresh rotis using Aashirwaad Atta and kept them in the roti servers for over half an hour. We then opened all of them to check if the rotis were soggy. We also checked if they were warm enough. Amongst the four, two best casserole for roti in India managed to keep the rotis dry; however, none of these could keep the rotis warm.
Best Roti Casserole in India
Of the multiple brands of roti casseroles available online and in offline market places, here are the ones we recommend.
1. Borosil Stainless Steel Roti Casserole
Borosil Roti Server’s drip-down action worked the best amongst all contenders, and the rotis did not get soggy during our review process.
Why Borosil Insulated Roti Server Is Our Top Pick?
The rotis in Borosil had no moisture on them. In fact, the casserole was dry, with just a few droplets of water.
We liked it better because it has a stainless steel coaster, while others had plastic trays. The coaster is big enough so that the roti doesn’t become soggy from any side.
The roti server is lightweight yet sturdy. The coaster sits perfectly in the casserole and is not flimsy at all.
Borosil insulated roti server comes with one year warranty. It can also be used to store theplas, rice, idlis, etc. and keep them fresh. It also has double walled PUF insulation that prevents loss of temperature.
Overall, it helps suffice your need to keep rotis from becoming soggy and also keeps them fresh.
Product Features-
- Lightweight container.
- Double-walled PUF insulation.
- Stainless steel coaster.
2. NanoNine Stainless Steel Casserole
NanoNine roti casserole has a dome-shaped toughened glass that keeps the water from dripping down on rotis, keeping them dry.
The rotis in NanoNine came out perfectly dry and fresh. The only thing that it lacked was the quality of the dripping tray. The tray is made of plastic. While it prevented the rotis from sticking to the container, we couldn’t ignore the use of plastic for the tray in our overall assessment. A stainless steel tray, that is easily washable and far more durable is preferable. This was the only thing that kept NanoNine from becoming a Top Pick in our review.
NanoNine, too, is double-walled and has PUF coating between walls to prevent heat and nutrition loss. It could be used for curries, rice, idlis, pasta, soup, curd, etc.
Design-wise, the NanoNine server is quite lightweight yet sturdy. The plastic tray fits well in the casserole and perfect for the size of a roti.
Product Features-
- It has a glass led.
- Double-walled insulation.
- N9 coaster prevents sogginess.
- Multipurpose- can be used for storing and serving.
3. Femora Stainless Steel Roti Server

4. Femora Casserole
This casserole comes with a dome-shaped lid that allows water vapor to trickle from the sides instead of straight down. The water droplets accumulate on the coaster and not the rotis which allows the rotis to stay fresh and dry. This is made with a rust-free and corrosion-resistant double-walled body that is made of stainless steel. It also has a PUF coating that prevents heat and nutrition loss. The capacity is 1100 ml.
Who is this review for?
This review is for people who don’t believe in wrapping their rotis in a foil. Research has suggested that one should not wrap their food in an aluminum foil (for a lengthy amount of time), as it starts to leach into it. These roti servers could come handy to people who prefer eating much later, or to people who come late from their work.
The Parameters- How We Reviewed
One of the main parameters was to see if they fulfill what they promise – to keep the rotis from becoming soggy. Other parameters included price, design, and if the rotis stay warm in them or not.
Soggy Rotis No More- What makes these roti servers different from other casseroles is that these servers come with drip trays to keep the rotis from becoming moist. If they become moist, the whole idea of a roti server fails.
Price- These stainless steel casseroles are priced under Rs. 1000. They are available in different sizes. The price differs with the size of the casserole. We also determined if they are worth spending on.
Design – Another prime parameter is design. Do they have handles? Are they sturdy enough? These insulated hot pots come with dripping trays or coasters to keep inside them. These coasters are uniquely designed to collect the moisture at the bottom of the pot preventing rotis from getting soggy. While some dripping trays are stainless steel, others had plastic trays and this was a bit concerning for us, considering the many hazardous effects of keeping hot/warm food on a plastic plate for a long time.
Do The Rotis Stay Warm? – These hot pots also claim to keep the rotis warm, which would be a good deal, considering we usually use casseroles for this purpose. Unfortunately, none of these roti servers could keep the rotis warm.
Why Roti Servers With Coasters/Dripping Trays May Be Better Than The Normal Casseroles
The only difference between these two types of servers is the added dripping tray that comes with the roti server. Moreover, the dome-shaped glass lids allow the condensed water to flow down from the sides, further sliding to the bottom of the coaster, without dropping on the rotis, leaving them fresh and dry. Normal casseroles may not have this functionality, so roti servers do get an added bonus here.
Results Of Our Review
While some of these roti servers were nothing but disappointment, Borosil Insulated Roti Server came as a savior. It delivers what it promises; therefore, it is our Top Pick for the Best Roti Server Review.
Borosil Roti Server’s drip down action worked the best amongst all contenders, and the rotis did not get soggy during our review process.
We also recommend NanoNine chapati pot.
