There are two types of people in the world – Those who LOVE biryani and this who LIKE biryani. We don’t know anyone who dislikes biryani, to be honest! Biryanis are enjoyed in different parts of the country and differ in their taste, method of cooking, and even spices used. But each one, be it Lucknowi, Hyderabadi, Memoni, or Kolkata biryani, is fragrant, mouth watering, and absolutely irresistible.
Tata Q Quick Quisine has come up with a range of ready-to-eat meals that just need to be heated in a microwave for 60 seconds before consumption. Earlier we tried the Tata Q Chicken Pastas and found that even though the sauces were nice, the pasta was overcooked which marred the overall experience. Now, we got our hands on the Tata Q Spicy Chicken Biryani and we were very eager to give it a try. Let us find out how it tasted.

#FirstImpression Of Tata Q Spicy Chicken Biryani
Price and packaging – The Tata Q Spicy Chicken Biryani comes in a box packaging and is priced at Rs 125/-. Once you remove the other box, there is a plastic container that holds the contents. The idea of the packaging is so that you can heat it in the office or when you are travelling, and eat it without having to take it out. A napkin and a plastic fork/spoon come inside the pack, which is very convenient.
Heating the biryani – We heated the biryani for 60 seconds in a microwave. If you do not have a microwave, the pack also mentions other methods of heating the biryani.
Before we started gauging the taste and other parameters of the product, we also kept in mind that there is no comparison between a freshly made biryani that has taken hours to prepare and a ready-to-eat meal that comes straight from a box.
Aroma and appearance – The Tata Q Spicy Chicken Biryani has a dominant mint and chili aroma, but the typical aroma of biryani is completely missing. The biryani is a little lumpy, has a dull brown color, and does not look too appetizing after heating.
A lot of people have this common complaint that the biryani did not have enough pieces of meat, but here we could see a lot of chicken pieces.
Taste and texture – Firstly, everything is cooked well. The rice is coated generously in masalas. When we took the meal out of the microwave, the chicken pieces were soft, but some time later the chicken pieces became dry, hard, and chewy. The biryani is on the spicier side. Owing to the fact that it is a packaged meal, we weren’t looking for this to be at par with a fresh handi of biryani. But the taste was not up to the mark at all.
The Tata Q Spicy Chicken Biryani is more like a chicken + rice combo that is loaded with spices. We definitely wanted some flavor burst or an ingredient that shined through. Sadly, they were missing.
Tata Q Spicy Chicken Biryani
We expected a lot more from the Tata Q Spicy Biryani. The chicken pieces had become dry and chewy, and the overall flavor was not upto the mark.
