Chilli paneer is a quintessential desi Chinese dish that is loved by a huge population in India. This dish has fried pieces of paneer (cottage cheese), chunks of onions, capsicum, and a LOT of heat coming from green chilies and spices. Ching’s Secret has a lot of instant masalas and sauces that ease our experience of making desi Chinese at home, including a Chili Paneer Masala. We tried the Ching’s Secret Paneer Chilli Masala and reviewed it for its flavor and the ease it provided us with while cooking.

#FirstImpression Of Ching’s Secret Paneer Chilli Masala
Price and packaging – A 20-gram sachet of Ching’s Secret Paneer Chilli Masala is priced at Rs 10/-. It comes in a sachet and box packing as well.
The dry masala – As soon as you open the packet, there is a soy sauce-like aroma. The color of the dry masala is light brown. Ching’s Secret Paneer Chilli Masala uses sunflower oil.
The preparation – According to the instructions given on the pack, we added 300 ml of water to the entire contents of the pack. The slurry became a dark brown in color and we could see specs of garlic in it.
In another pan, we added 2 tbsp of sunflower oil. Once hot, we added vegetables and chunks of fried paneer. After stir-frying it for 2-3 minutes, we added the masala-paste we made earlier. After a boil, we cooked it on low flame for 2 minutes and served it hot. The gravy was almost dry by the time we tasted it. We did not add extra salt or any other seasoning to the dish. We topped it with some sesame seeds and spring onion greens. The instructions were easy to follow.
Final outcome – When we order in chili paneer, we expect a brownish looking gravy with thick chunks of fried paneer, onions, and capsicum. The dish looked exactly what you would expect out of street-style chili paneer.
The garlic, salt, and chili-quotient were in perfect quantities and no extra seasoning was required. The pack recommends adding 3-4 slit green chilies if you want to increase the heat of the dish. We only added one.
You can adjust the quantity of water if you want a more dry consistency of chili paneer. We would have liked it if the soy-like pungency was a little less.
Earlier, we made chili paneer using the Ching’s Secret Schezwan Chutney and loved it for its robust spicy flavor.
Overall, this masala makes our cooking experience in the kitchen much easier and quicker. You do not have to find masalas and sauces individually. This is a one-pack-has-it-all masala which produced a tasty dish of chili paneer.
