1. Price and packaging
The Amul Cheese Onion pockets come in a white-colored pouch pack. It is not a resealable pack.
A pack of 360 gms (320 gm +40 gm) of Amul Cheese Onion Pocket is priced at Rs 135/-. Inside the pack is a small 40 gm pouch of green chutney.
This pack contains approximately 16 pieces of cheese and onion-filled pockets.
2. Ingredients
The Amul Cheese Onion Pockets are made using Amul products.
The list of ingredients for the onion-cheese pockets include – Processed cheese (27%), Common salt, Refined wheat flour, Palm oil, Onion (5.7%), Corn oil, Green capsicum, Green chilli, Coriander leaves, Salt, Wheat fiber, Black pepper, Water.
Ingredients of the chutney – Coriander leaves, Mint leaves, Green chilli, Corn oil, Salt, Cumin.
3. Method of Preparation
As per information on the pack, the Amul Onion Cheese Pockets can be cooked using one method – deep frying. We deep-fried the frozen pockets without thawing. We used regular vegetable oil to deep-fry these.
These are quick-cooking and attained a golden brown color on the exterior in under 3-4 minutes. Within this time frame, the cheese inside melted well and the outer covering cooked fully as well.
4. Crispiness
The onion cheese pockets by Amul are CRISP! The outer covering of these snacks turned a wonderful golden-brown color and was extremely crispy. The edges of the pockets are scalloped (thin cuts/fringes along the edges) and crisped up well too.
5. Taste
The Amul Onion Cheese Pockets have a crisp exterior and a cheesy center with hints of onion. The outer covering is well seasoned on its own and with the salty, cheesy center it becomes even tastier.
The cheese pockets have a very subtle chili quotient. These aren’t spicy but they do have small bits of green chilies. The green chilies and coriander leaves add a mild freshness to this savory snack.
We liked that all the pockets have a very proportionate filling. None of them were empty or under-stuffed.
6. Best Pair
These can be paired with a number of condiments like ketchup, herbed mayonnaise, any hot sauce, schezwan chutney, or even mustard sauce. You may serve these with the chutney provided inside, but we feel that it does not pair well with the snack at all.
7. Nutritional Facts
100 grams of the Amul Onion Cheese Pockets provide 258 Kcal of energy. The chutney provides 89 Kcal of energy.
8. Shelf Life
Best before 12 months from date of manufacturing. Keep the Amul Cheese Onion Pockets stored in the freezer.
