Our Review Factors
We set the following review factors for testing Alpino High Protein Chocolate Oats:
1. Taste
We tested the flavor of chocolate, peanut butter, and overall freshness under this criterion. Given that oats have a neutral flavor, our focus was primarily on the other components, – chocolate and peanut butter.
Did we detect any artificial aftertaste?
2. Texture
The texture of oats was the main focus here. How significant is the crunch? Keeping this in mind, would these be suitable for consuming as is or would they be better as overnight oats?
3. Nutri Label (Ingredients + Nutri Values)
The oats we have here are chocolate-flavored and high in protein, which is clearly stated on the packaging. To verify the high protein claim, we checked the Nutrition label and compared the protein content and calories per serving. We also took into account the list of ingredients, as a clean ingredient list is highly appreciated by us.
4. Supporting Parameters
The price, shelf life, and package information are all stated here.

Our Testing Process
We tested these oats two ways:
- Dry taste test
- In cold milk
Taste
First thing first, the chocolate flavor takes center stage here. It is very well-balanced and makes its presence felt in every bite. Unlike many other chocolate-flavored cereals that can end up tasting artificial, this one tasted completely natural and fresh.
All in all the chocolate flavor is extremely clean, which leaves your taste buds tantalizing and asking for more.
The peanut butter, though present, has a subtle touch but adds a wonderful nutty depth to the overall flavor. It will certainly not overpower your taste palette but marries the chocolate flavor well.
This cereal is not sweetened with sugar, added sugars, or artificial sweeteners. This is a plus as it allows room to add in your favorite toppings (fruits, berries or nuts).
However, we liked it just the way it was and didn’t feel the need to add any extra sweetener. You may add a natural sweetener like honey or maple if the need arises, but we strongly suggest you try it first with a fruit of your choice.
Texture
It has a nice crunch to it, which we enjoyed. Even though the oats are not candied or do not include nuts/berries, the crunch is noteworthy. In fact, we loved the little clumps of oats in between that give a very muesli-like eating experience without the spoonfuls of sugar that are needed to clump them together.
Keeping in mind how crunchy these are, they would taste excellent as overnight oats.
Pros
- Lovely crunch
- Natural chocolate flavor
- Clean ingredient list
- Fresh and flavorful
- No need to add a sweetener
- Resealable packaging
