SUPERB!

Summary

Blueflame Reshmi Kebabs come delicately packed. They have a nice garlicky flavor. These kebabs have a nice brown exterior and are tender from the inside.

Think about a freshly grilled batch of Reshmi kebabs! Juicy pieces of chicken/meat marinated in a rich mix of curd and cream, delicious! We bet you’re drooling already.

Lately, frozen foods have become synonymous with convenience. Whether it’s a random craving at an odd hour or guests have arrived unannounced, you’re ready to spend more time relishing the dish than preparing it.

That being said, preservatives may sometimes make us walk away from consuming a frozen product. This got us to thinking- can frozen foods be prepared without preservatives?

The ingredient list of the Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebab does not mention any preservatives. We were intrigued! For our Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebab review, we ordered a pack of the same from Big Basket at the Mishry HQ.

Blue Flame is a frozen-food brand with over 20 years of experience in food processing. The pre-prepared meals offer a fusion of flavors from all over the world.

The word ‘reshmi’ means silky, and therefore our main concern was would the Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebab retain its shape? In addition to this, we were keen on knowing the ingredients used to bind the kebabs together.

Other parameters that formed the base of our Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebab review were- the ingredients, the flavour, texture, cooking time, shelf life, caloric value, and of course the price.

1. Ingredients

In most restaurants, reshmi kebabs are made by marinating pieces of chicken or meat in a tangy dip. This dip has a rich texture which it gets from cashew nuts and cream/curd.

The Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebabs are made using skinless chicken(38.17%) and soaked chana dal(7.25%). It is flavored with onion paste(5.90%), green chili paste(1.12%), ginger paste, garlic paste, lemon juice, salt, coriander powder, cumin powder, black pepper powder, cardamom powder, and paprika powder. These kebabs also contain eggs and potato flakes(1.06%).

2. Flavor

The Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebabs are full of flavors! There is a dominant garlicky taste with bits of green chili. Towards the end of the bite, we noticed an unmissable black pepper kick. The signature chicken flavor is not as intense.

In addition to this, chana dal was another ingredient we could taste.

These chicken kebabs have a very smooth and silky texture. The ingredients and spices used have been minced into a fine paste, making the Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebabs smooth and not granular or chunky.

The exterior is crisp with a tender chicken piece on the inside, just like you would want it to be.

3. Price

A 240-gm pack of the Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebab is priced at Rs 185/-. You get eight pieces of reshmi kebabs in this pack. We think this product is reasonably priced looking at the quantity and list of ingredients.

4. Usage

The back of the pack mentions that the Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebabs do not require thawing. Following the recommended method of cooking, we shallow-fried these kebabs in refined oil.

Unlike most kebabs, these chicken kebabs from Blue Flame did not break upon frying. Typically frozen foods with a soft center filling tend to be undercooked even after browning from the outside. This was not the case, as noticed during our Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebab review.

The pan-frying method we used added a brilliant crunch on the outside.

5. Best Pair

The Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi kebabs would pair well with most staple Indian carbohydrate sources from lemon-flavored rice to rolled in a roti.

A yogurt-based dip with a mint flavor or even a light salad would be an ideal side- dish.  Alternatively, you could also serve the Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebabs with grilled corn on the cob for complimentary smoky flavors. Or simply serve these reshmi chicken kebabs with a side of mint chutney and onion slices drizzled with some lemon juice.

6. Packaging

The Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebabs are packed in a black-blue pouch with the standard graphic image. You can store these chicken kebabs in the freezer.

7. Shelf life

The Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebabs have a shelf life of 12 months from packaging. You are recommended to store them at -18 degrees centigrade. Please note- these chicken kebabs must not be refrozen once defrosted.

Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebab – Detailed Review

For our Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebab review, we shallow-fried a batch of these in refined oil as refined oil does not have a strong taste or aroma and would help us produce a fair review.

That being said, we feel preparing these chicken kebabs in ghee would have enhanced the flavor a little more.

The Blue Flame Chicken Reshmi Kebabs did not break or lose their shape during the cooking process.

These kebabs had a shiny brown exterior under five minutes, and we could tell these were ready to be devoured.

The pan-frying method added a delicate crunch to the exterior. As we sliced the kebab, we noticed green chili bits and a silky smooth texture. The outer crunch and soft interior is a classic combination you can’t go wrong with.

Since all ingredients are minced into a fine paste, these kebabs had a super-smooth and silky texture. There were no granular or chunky textures present.

Taste-wise, the garlic flavor is dominant. We could feel the chicken texture; however, the signature chicken taste was not as intense. In addition to this, we tasted chana dal too, and right at the end, a black pepper kick hit us!
