Summary

Chaayos Instant Adrak Elaichi Premix was a delightful experience for Mishry, thanks to its low sweetness and prominent flavors of ginger and cardamom.

Instant tea and coffee premixes are a boon for those who lack the time or patience to let their beverage brew. Unfortunately, more often than not, this convenience is accompanied with a sugar overdose.

Chaayos, a popular tea brand in India, offers products ranging from tea premixes, chai masala to tea-time snacks. For our Chaayos Instant Adrak Elaichi Tea Premix review, we ordered the 5-sachet carton and here’s our verdict.

Our Review Factors

What parameters did we set when reviewing Chaayos Adrak Elaichi Tea premix? Flavor, consistency, aroma were the key parameters. We also gauged this premix over aspects like ingredients, price, and shelf life.

1. Flavor

Ginger and cardamom take your plain chai from zero to hundred in a mini second. But can a packaged premix replicate the same depth of flavors? This also claims to be low in sugar. Is it? Do the flavors taste artificial or natural? Was the milky, creamy flavor present? How is the overall balance of sugar, milk and tea extract?

A kadak homestyle chai or any artificial, undesirable aftertaste?

2. Consistency

Watered-down, balanced or milky? What was the consistency like?

3. Convenience

In addition to boiling water, what else is needed to prepare this tea? Does the premix dissolve in water effortlessly or were there lumps formed? Is the packaging travel-friendly? Does it come with stirrers?

4. Other Parameters

The price, packaging, shelf life, ingredients were also recorded.

Taste + Consistency

Right as we opened the sachet, we could smell the milk mostly. This tea premix had a grey-white appearance, and it was a fine powder.

The mixing was effortless, this did not require too much rigorous stirring. As for consistency, this looked quite close a homestyle cup of tea. Fairly milky and not watery like some premixes are.

Coming to the taste and flavors, the sweetness was low as promised. Big thumbs up. The characteristic flavors of ginger and cardamom were in a desirable sync and tasted natural. While cardamom added its sweet astringency, ginger lent warm, peppery notes. We liked that the ginger notes are not like the dry powder (saunth powder), but of freshly grated ginger we always use at home.
