Nutritious? Yes. But were these delicious?
Our Review Factors
We described the flavors, consistency, and convenience of Frugease Super Smoothies Mix in our review of the same. The ingredient list and nutrition values have also been highlighted. These were the parameters we set for a fair, unbiased review.
1. Taste
Fruit is the first ingredient of all variants. We gauged how intense and natural the flavor was. Next, the sweetness. Was it overwhelming or just right? Extra points if these were devoid of artificial flavors.
Certain variants also have ingredients like ginger, cinnamon, mint- did their innate flavors shine through?
Considering they use a grain powder as a mode to thicken the smoothie, how widely does that impact the taste?
2. Texture/Consistency
Did these smoothies have some bits or chunks of the fruit? Was it smooth or grainy? The mouthfeel primarily depends on the type of fruit/fruit powder used. The thickness should resonate with that of the fruit and other ingredients like whole grains.
All-in-all, was it desirable?
3. Nutrition Profile
Because these are labelled as ‘energy boosters’, the carbohydrate content should be higher than fats and proteins. Since these are meant for weight management and replacing meals, the calories should be under 200.
Next, the quality of ingredients was scanned. What sweetener is used? Is it natural or artificial? Does the ingredient list specify the fruit content in each variant?
4. Convenience
A bottle and milk- is that all you need? Was the mixing seamless, or were there lumps formed? What about packaging?
5. Other Factors
Here we recorded the price, shelf life, and appearance.
Frugease Super Smoothies Mix Flavours – Detailed Review
We tried the shaker method and honestly, it resulted in a very lumpy consistency. So we opted for the blender method instead.
200 ml milk in a blender jar with 1 sachet of Frugease Super Smoothie. This was blitz for five seconds, and here is our detailed experience with each variant.
All variants are offered in 35-gram sachets and priced at Rs 99/- with a shelf life of eight months.
1. Energizer
Our Experience
Energizer was easily the collective favorite of the review panel. Owing to the choice of ingredients, this was slightly sweeter than other variants in this range.
The earthy sweetness of chickoo (Sapodilla) with the tropical nuttiness of coconut were present prominently. They were enhanced by the warming sweetness of cinnamon.
Common for all variants- the consistency was thick and filling with some graininess. It wasn’t displeasing at all. This is acquired.
Product Details
This is made with Sapodilla powder (chikoo), Banana powder, Bengal gram powder, Coconut milk powder, Low DE Maltodextrin, Cinnamon, Vitamin Mix**, Bacillus Subtilis Probiotic, Stevia, Xanthan Gum (INS415).
One sachet offers 137 Kcal with 30.7 grams of carbohydrates (with 8.2 grams of naturally-occuring sugar), 1.5 grams of protein, and 0.8 grams of fat.
What is low DE maltodextrin?
Maltodextrin is typically added to enhance texture and volume in packaged foods and beverages. Low DE maltodextrin, on the other hand, is a compound, a carbohydrate powder with a low glycemic index that improves the texture and mouthfeel of packed products.
What is Bacillus Subtilis Probiotic? Why is it in my smoothie mix?
This probiotic improves digestive function by alleviating IBS symptoms, if any, bettering immune functioning, and lipid metabolism.
And xanthan gum?
This vegan thickener works to improve the texture of the beverage.

2. Lover
Our Experience
Made with pink and red-hued fruits, Lover was predominantly fruity. Pomegranate lent it sweetness, while strawberry cut it with the tarty, berry flavor. The addition of Bengal gram was a hit. Best of all, this tasted fresh. It made the smoothie thicker, and added a grainy texture. This graininess contributes to the feeling of fullness. Chia seeds lent a chewy bite in between sips, breaking the monotony.

3. Inspirer
Our Experience
What worked- the flavors
What didn’t- the grainy mouthfeel
This variant had an appetizing flavor profile. The fruity flavor of mangoes with the natural sweetness of bananas pair well. That being said, despite being made with two essentially sweet fruits, this wasn’t overwhelmingly sweet. The earthiness of oats could also be tasted.
The consistency was not creamy and rich like that of milkshakes, it was quite grainy.

4. Challenger
Our Experience
Super appetizing, this variant had the innate flavor of guava seeds. Quite likable, we could also taste the earthy, root-like flavor of beetroot. Challenger was relatively thicker than other variants. Flax meal powder lent a certain body to the consistency that gets a thumbs up.

5. Hustler
Our Experience
The flavors in Hustler were a delightful surprise. Coffee aficionados are bound to love this.
This contains ingredients like coffee, cacao nibs, banana, coconut, and pumpkin. Now ideally, one would think the flavors of ingredients would not pair well. However, it was the opposite. They worked fairly well, the sweetness, the caffeine flavor, coconut’s nuttiness, it was a burst of flavors. We liked how strong and pronounced the coffee flavor was, without being bitter. The cacao nibs do not dissolve, and add a nice bite to the smoothie.

6. Commander
Our Experience
This was the least liked in terms of flavor, as it had more vegetables than fruits. And fruits add sweetness, tartness.
This was primarily made of greens (cucumbers and spinach). Commander did not taste bad, it had the natural, fresh flavors of the ingredients. However, compared to other variants we tried, this was not as appetizing. It was a thick, filling smoothie.
