- Then we simmered it on low-medium heat for 15-20 minutes till it thickened slightly.
Review Analysis
Appearance + Aroma
From the visual inspection of the dry mix, we could spot sugar, rice daana (small rice grains, not full in size) and nuts. This releases a pleasant aroma , dominated by cardamom.
Upon cooking, the final color of the kheer turns out to be pale yellow. This is primarily due to the presence of saffron (though we could not spot any strands).
Taste + Texture
This rice kheer is tasty, no doubt. The cardamom flavor is natural and pleasant, but the sweetness could be toned down a bit as it is sweeter than average. However, we were disappointed with the quality of the Basmati rice. The grains were small and not what we expected. Despite this, the bits of almonds provide a nice textural contrast to the creamy kheer. The almonds are not whole-sized, so if you prefer a nutty kheer, you can top it with additional almond pieces.
Convenience
This mix eliminates the lengthy and time-consuming process of preparing rice kheer from scratch. Also, the instructions to cook the kheer are pretty straightforward to follow.
Pros
- Clean ingredient list
- Convenient to prepare

- Enticing aroma of cardamom
- It can be served both – hot and cold.
Cons
- The quality of the rice could be improved.
