#2 Ingredients 

The main ingredients used to make nachos include corn and any oil to deep fry them. Some brands use a mix of flours like whole wheat, oats, and corn. Oils commonly used to deep fry nachos/tortilla chips include corn oil, soyabean oil, and palm oil. Then the particular flavorings are added.

The main ingredients used to make Parle Mexitos include – Corn, Refined palm oil, and a mix of seasonings. These are gluten-free.

Nachos can be had as it or paired with a condiment of your choice. Some common pairings include – Cheese sauce, tomato salsa, guacamole, and sour cream.

Some also like to make loaded nachos and top the tortilla chips with red kidney beans, grated cheese, onions, tomatoes, and seasoning. These are then baked and served with the above-mentioned sauces.

For our Parle Mexitos Nacho Chips review, we tasted the nacho chips as it is and then paired them with a few other dipping sauces and condiments. We tried them with fresh homemade salsa, Epigamia’s cream cheese, and the Bhut Naagin hot sauce. This helped us gauge the flavor of the chips during the actual end-use. 

We set out the following parameters to review Parle Mexitos –

1.Taste

Chips and nachos should be one thing – Tasty. Well, it is an overused word, but that’s how chips are usually defined. We buy them again ONLY if they’re tasty, otherwise, we remain loyal to our usuals. Which is why we wanted to know – How tasty are these nacho chips? Are the flavors up to the mark? Is the seasoning balanced or are the nachos underseasoned? 

2. Intensity of Flavour

Through this parameter, we wanted to see if the promised flavors were detectable. If yes, how well defined are the flavors? Can we actually taste the mustard/jalapeno flavor in these nachos?

3. Crunch

Crunch is a supremely important factor when it comes to reviewing nachos. Are the Parle Mexitos crunchy or do they lack in this department?

4. Price

Are these priced competitively or on the higher side? If priced higher, then does the quality justify it?

For our Parle Mexitos Nacho Chips review, we picked two flavors from their range and examined them for their taste, crunch, and intensity of flavor. Here are our findings. 

Parle Mexitos, Smoky Jalapeno flavor, comes in green and black packaging. A 25 gm pack is priced at Rs 10/-. The key ingredients include corn, refined palm oil and seasoning.

Parle Mexitos Smoky Jalapeno Nacho Chips are very crunchy. If we had blind-tasted these chips, we couldn’t have guessed that these are jalapeno flavored nachos. The intensity of the jalapeno flavor is extremely low. 

The mild heat you expect from a bag of jalapeno flavored nachos is absent. 

These aren’t heavily dusted with masala, these are lightly seasoned and the salt levels are balanced as well.

• Ingredients – Corn, Refined palm oil, Seasonings (sugar, malt, iodized salt, spices and condiments, bell pepper powder, red chilli powder).

Pros

• Parle Mexitos Smoky Jalapeno flavor is crunchy.
• Salt levels are balanced.

Cons

• The jalapeno flavor is very weak and doesn’t showcase itself boldly.
• When had with salsa or any other dipping sauce, the flavor of the chip diminishes even further.

Parle Mexitos, Mustard & Herbs flavor, comes in a purple and black packaging. A 25 gm pack is priced at Rs 10/-. The key ingredients include corn, refined palm oil and seasoning including mustard.

Mustard and nachos are not a usual flavor combination, which is why we were curious to try it. We haven’t seen a bag of nachos that are flavored with a pungent ingredient like mustard.

The mustard flavor is not too sharp like kasundi, but has very light playful notes which taste really good. We could also taste a sufficient amount of black pepper. These nachos are deliciously innovative!

Pros

• This is an innovative flavor. 
• These are a bag of crunchy nacho chips.
• We liked the balanced flavor of mustard in these nachos.
• These are well seasoned and the ‘masala’ coats the chips nicely.

Best Suited For

These are best suited if you want to eat a bag of well-seasoned nacho chips. You don’t need too much salsa or sour cream to amplify the taste, these tortilla chips taste good on their own as well.

You can also use them to build a plate of loaded nachos.

Both the flavors of Parle Mexitos Nacho Chips are crunchy and have balanced salt levels. But out of the two, the Mustard & Herbs flavor is what we preferred. 

Mustard flavored nachos are a relatively new flavor in the market and we liked the balanced flavor of mustard. Neither too much, nor too less.

Parle Mexitos Nacho Chips (mustard and herbs) are crunchy and tasty! We liked the mustard and herbs flavor better as compared to the jalapeno one as the flavor is just more prominent and in sync with the nachos. 

Sadly, the jalapeno nacho chips have an extremely diluted jalapeno flavor that could have very well been passed off as regular salted tortilla chips.
