Cheese slices are convenient options when it comes to making a quick sandwich or burger at home. But not all of them taste the same, not to mention that their nutrition parameters like calories, protein etc are not identical either. While many flavors and types of cheese slices exist, for our search of the Best Cheese Slices For Homemade Burgers, we reviewed the classic variants to see which one tastes best in a homestyle bun-cheese-patty-bun burger. We also checked for how these taste by themselves. After reviewing 4 different brands of cheese slices over 16 hours, we can say with certainty that Amul Cheese Slices is our top pick for adding the best cheesy flavor to our aloo-tikki patty.

Mishry Top Pick: Amul Cheese Slices
Amul Cheese Slice is our top recommended cheese slices brand when you are looking to add comforting cheese flavors to your homestyle burger. It’s creamy, salty and the texture is just right – not too pasty, neither too hard and chewy.
Our Review Process:
Cheese slices are often suggested as high-energy and high-protein snacks for growing children who are active and indulge in daily sports and outdoor games. Cheese slices are convenient and comfortable options when you want to create a quick sandwich to go. They are an essential ingredient for homemade burgers and sometimes also added to paranthas for little kids. Cheese slices are a type of processed cheese and should be consumed in moderation only, these are made using natural cheese in conjunction with emulsifiers, salty compounds and sometimes permitted colors too. Cheese spreads and slices have a creamy, salty texture on account of these added compounds. Processed cheese also has a longer shelf life – making them ideal for tiffins and travel-snacks.
Brands We Picked
We picked 4 nationally available brands of cheese slices. We picked classic variants for each of these.
Go Cheese Plain (Buy Now On Amazon)
Britannia Cheese Slices
Amul Cheese (Buy Now On Amazon)
Mother Dairy Cheese Slices (Buy Now On Amazon)
How We Picked Our Brands
As always, we went for brands that are dominant, most-trusted, and most-popular. Some of these brands don’t need any introduction. Mother dairy, Britannia, and Amul, for instance, have been quite successful over the years. ‘Go’ is relatively new, but it is as widely distributed like the rest of the brands.
In terms of size, we picked the 200g/10 slice pack for each. Britannia and Amul, the top two brands taste-wise, are priced similarly. Britannia slices have a slight orangish tinge and, in fact, have a creamier texture too. However, in a series of blind taste-tests, Amul Cheese slices were picked as tastier by our team. Britannia has a slightly sour aftertaste – that didn’t taste as good when added to homestyle burgers.
Who This Is For?
Cheese slices are not an everyday item. Instead, they are made for some specific dishes such as sandwiches and burgers. They are also a huge hit with kids! If you are someone who regularly buys cheese slices to use them for kids’ snacks, then this review will be of value to you. We usually pick cheese slices for convenience, so knowing which ones taste better in homemade snacks should help.
How We Tested: The Parameters
The review process was divided into two parts. For the first, we tasted each of the cheese slices individually by blind-tasting them (so that the results are not biased). The other test was the Mishry Secret Sauce, which was just for the top two best-tasting slices.
Parameters are essential in terms of judging different cheese slices. All the slices seemed similar when we took into account their aroma, texture, and didn’t differ a great deal on their nutritional content, so, in the end, it all came down to one thing: Taste. Thus, only the best tasting cheese slices passed our first half of the review process.
The Result Of Our First Tasting Test
As for the result of our first tasting test, Amul and Britannia emerged as the finalists for their taste and creamy texture, and both of them went on for our Mishry Secret Sauce in order to find which one was the best.
We understand that taste can be subjective, so we didn’t rely just on one type of tasting. With our top two brands, we decided to create a homestyle burger in our test kitchen to see how each of them would taste in a simple recipe.
Mishry Secret Sauce
For our Mishry Secret Sauce test, we decided to prepare an aloo-tikki burger consisting of McCain’s Aloo Tikki, a cheese slice each from Amul and Britannia, and DelMonte’s Ketchup (which was the winner of our best tasting ketchup review). In the end, we tasted both the burgers that had Amul and Britannia’s cheese slices in order to judge them on the merits of their taste.
The Result For The Mishry Secret Sauce
We found the burger made with Amul Cheese creamier, cheesier and overall tastier. Amul Cheeses slices fared slightly better on protein as compared to Britannia too.
Mishry Top Pick: Amul Cheese Slices
Amul Cheese Slice is our top recommended cheese slices brand when you are looking to add comforting cheese flavors to your homestyle burger. The cheese slices by Amul are not only tasty when eaten as is, but they also add oodles of flavor when added to a burger or sandwich.
