Corn flakes are enjoyed the world over and are amongst the most popular breakfast for millions across the globe. Corn flakes, made by cooking, flattening and toasting corn kernels, are available in a variety of flavor combinations but for the purpose of our review, we stuck to checking out the basic/classic variants only. We tasted the top 4 brands in this category for over a week for breakfast. We checked each brand for crunch, size of the flakes, and taste. Since almost all packaged corn flakes brands contain added sugar, salt and malt, the overall flavor and experience in each brand were different.
On the basis of multiple tasting sessions, we believe Kellogg’s Corn Flakes Original, Breakfast Cereal is the tastiest, crunchiest and healthiest Corn Flakes out there.
Our Review Factors
What are we looking for? We are looking for the tastiest and crunchiest corn flakes that are perfect for your breakfast needs.
1. Taste
When we talk about cornflakes, they do not hold any flavor of their own. These are sweet in taste and take the taste of the liquid they are soaked in. Hence we examined the taste of these corn flakes both with and without milk.
2. Crunch
The crispness and the crunchiness of corn flakes enhances the overall taste and speaks a lot about the freshness. We gauged the crunch at two stages – the dry stage and after immersing them in milk.
We are looking for a crisp bite and bold crunch. Which brand scored the best here?
3. Other Parameters
The price and the packaging were also considered during our review process.

Corn Flakes Brands – Detailed Review
How We Picked Brands + How We tested
For many, cornflakes and milk is a go-to breakfast option on rushed workday mornings. Often, people like to add fresh berries, pieces of apples and even dried fruits and nuts to make the bowl tastier and healthier. Some add sugar/honey too. We decided to taste all brands devoid of any added ingredients as we wanted to check what the individual taste of each of them felt like. We also decided to check each without adding sugar, honey or any artificial sweeteners.
Every session of the tasting was done side by side, using full-cream, organic milk.
All of the brands that we picked for our taste test are popular and known for their range of products. The price range and availability of the product have also played a major role in our process of choosing brands, for these products belong somewhat in the same price range and are easily available at both online and offline stores. Brands such as Kellogg’s and Bagrry’s are well known in the cereal market, thus it made complete sense for them to be on the list. And as for Patanjali and Mohun’s, though not as popular across the world as those two, are still known for their quality food products.
This is a review that only looked at classic cornflakes variants without berries, nuts, or special variants with bran or mixed with muesli.
Review Process
This segment was divided into two parts. The first one was the dry tasting of the product as we wanted to gauge the original taste of the cornflakes without any milk. In the second part, we added milk to each brand of the cornflakes.
Further, we tasted each of the four bowls that contained different brands of flakes and carefully noted the change in the flavor. This was done without the addition of any extra sweeteners or fruits/berries/nuts.

Why Bagrry’s Corn Flakes is our Healthy Pick:
Bagrry’s Corn Flakes had the second-best taste and flavor amongst all the brands reviewed. But when you are looking for a product to help you lose weight, two factors matter a great deal, in addition to taste – the amount of calories, and the presence of dietary fiber. On both these counts, Bagrry’s Corn Flakes does well. With lower calories and sugar, along with higher dietary fiber, Bagrry’s Corn Flakes makes for the perfect Healthy Pick amongst all the brands reviewed.
Our Top Picks & Recommendations
For this review, we had two winners, Kellogg’s and Bagrry’s, both of which came in packets that had clear nutritional information. And though the two happen to share our ‘top pick’ title, that does not mean that the two have the same taste.
Bagrry’s, as compared to Kellogg’s, has a wheaty and mildly saltier taste, and as for Kellogg’s, its nutty taste blended perfectly with that of the milk. Both the brands retained similar levels of crunch upon soaking in milk.
