Highlights on the Nutrition front
A medium size chilla (made from 50 gm batter) using Prolicious Oats chilla mix provides around 203 kcal of energy, 13.32 gm of protein, 27.45 gms of carbs, and 6.65 gms of dietary fiber. In addition, the fat content is 4.45 gms here.
A regular besan chilla (50 gms) provides around 11.2 gm of protein, 3.34 gm of fat, 28.91 gms of carbs, 5.4 gm of dietary fiber and 194 kcal of energy.
Looking at the comparative analysis, the protein content is exceptional here as there are different good sources of protein included – Oats flour (50%), peanuts, Bengal gram flour and moong flour. The fiber content is good too.
Coming to the calories and fat content, it is slightly higher in comparison to a regular besan chilla. Why is the fat higher, you ask? This chilla mix includes peanuts (a good fat) which makes them slightly higher in fats than other chilla mix available in the market which are usually made with a mix of dals.
How did we make it?
Following the directions on the package, we mixed 50 grams of the mix with a suitable amount of water, mixing thoroughly until the desired consistency was reached.
We added onions, tomatoes, beans and coriander leaves to the mix. Later, after pre-heating the pan, we poured the batter and cooked like a regular chilla by putting in some oil on both the sides.
Pro tip : To ensure that the batter does not form any lumps, be sure to add the water gradually and not at once.
Our Experience
First things first, the batter is super convenient and easy to make. All the instructions are mentioned on point. Further, the amount of water required is specifically mentioned too. This chilla mix has a yellow color hue. It is neither a fine powder nor too coarse.
Texture-wise, these chillas have a soft bite. The best part was that these do not harden despite having them after 20 to 30 minutes.
The overall seasoning is in proper proportion. It is mild in spiciness and is aptly salted. However, depending upon individual preferences and keeping the quantity of vegetables you add in mind, some might want to add a pinch of salt. But be sure to test it once.
We really liked how this offers convenience, flavor and nutrition in one shot.
