Summary

Both the flavors of Britannia Nutri Choice Oats Cookies are crunchy and have a fibrous mouthfeel. The ingredient list could have been better. The rating is for the almond and milk cookie.

Today biscuits and cookies are not just limited to a few flavors, and neither is the use of ingredients restricted to just maida. Whole wheat, ragi, oats, jowar and many other nutrient dense flours have slowly, but steadily, made their way back to the ingredient list.

Britannia’s Nutri Choice range offers biscuits made using comparatively healthier grains and flours. Earlier we reviewed their Ragi Cookies and Oats Orange Biscuits. For our current review we picked up Oats Almond & Milk and Oats Chocolate & Almond variants.

In our Britannia Nutri Choice Oats Cookies review, we talk about the taste and texture. The list of ingredients and nutri-label is also discussed.

Britannia Nutri Choice Oats Cookies – Our Review Factors

Our review parameters are as follows –

1. Packaging

We lay emphasis on this because packaging impacts the way the product reaches us. The Chocolate & Almond flavor comes in a brown and beige color pack whereas the Almond & Milk flavor comes in a light blue and beige color pack. The biscuits are placed directly in the pack, there is no tray. The packs are not resealable.

2. Main Ingredients

Ingredients play a crucial role that has an impact on the overall taste and texture of any cookie. We scanned the ingredient list to check how much percentage of oats has been used, the type of sweetener and fat added, and the presence of any undesirable ingredients.

3. Taste

Here we gauge how flavorful these cookies are. Does the name justify the flavor? Is the level of sugar balanced? Any distinctive flavor that the oats add to the cookie?

4. Texture

Cookies made using multiple grains have a texture different from cookies made using maida as the hero ingredient. The texture tends to be slightly grainier. But should that impact the crunch?

We examine how crisp and crunchy these cookies are. Are they chewy? Is the texture crumbly? How is the overall mouthfeel of these oats cookies? Do the nuts add extra crunch?

5. Appearance

Do these cookies look visually appealing? Were they uniform in shape and size? Any broken, crumbly pieces?

These are thick, brown-colored cookies and have noticeable bits of almonds spread across. The 75 gm + 25 gm extra pack holds approximately 12 cookies. These cookies are primarily sweet with a slightly bitter taste. It also has light saltiness that we could taste at the end. The flavor of chocolate is milder than expected. Texture wise, these cookies are crunchy and have a fibrous mouthfeel. The almond bits taste fresh and add a layer of crunch.

The ingredient list isn’t as impressive. Although whole wheat flour and rolled oats have been added, the use of ingredients like palm oil, maltodextrin, maida and refined sugar aren’t really desirable.
