Haldiram’s Lite Mixture – Detailed Review
Let’s have a look at the detailed review here:
Haldiram’s Lite Mixture belongs to the Sensible Snacking range. It comes in a red outer pack and has a shelf life of 5 months.
First things first, let us talk about the texture. We liked how non-oily this namkeen feels on the palate. The crispness of the rice flakes and corn flakes is commendable.
Taste-wise, the flavor and freshness of the different ingredients hit the correct spots! The curry leaves lend significant freshness to this mixture.
Here are is a detailed explanation of the taste and texture of the 3 main ingredients :
Rice Flakes: This ingredient occupies a majority part of the namkeen. Texture-wise, these are SUPER CRISPY! These are well seasoned with salt and a tinge of turmeric.
Corn Flakes: The crunch coming from the corn flakes is on point. It is lightly salted and has a nice tang.
Chana: Adding to the texture is the roasted chana. Neither hard nor soft. It adds a perfect bite to this mixture.
For a snack that claims to be ‘lite’, we expected the ingredient list to be better. The use of both palm olein oil and cottonseed oil bothers us. Consumption of these oils is not considered healthy.
Moreover, about 100 gm of this mixture carries about 520 kcal. And this certainly does not make it a lite snack.
