Our Review Factors
What are we expecting? Our expectation here is a fresh tasting, crunchy namkeen seasoned with the right level of salt and chatpata flavor.
For our review of Jabsons Moong Jor we set the following parameters:
1. Taste
What do we look for here? We examine the level of salt, spiciness, and the intensity of chatpata flavor. Did we observe any off putting oily aftertaste?
2. Crunch
Are the moong jor crunchy? Is the crunch mild or prominent?
3. Nutritional Label
This segment talks about the main ingredients and nutritional information.
We check for the primary source of fat used, the use of preservatives, artificial flavors or any additives.
The brand has mentioned that this namkeen is rich in protein, iron and calcium. Here we check the amount of protein, calcium, and iron per 100gm to find how well the brand has backed up its claim?
These are not deep fried and are labeled as ‘roasted’. Just because the oil has been ‘sprayed on’ and the pack says its roasted, doesn’t necessarily mean that this would be low fat or low calorie. We also check for calories and fat content.
Apart from the above main parameters, the packaging, price, and shelf life were the other contributing factors.

Jabsons Moong Jor – Detailed Review
This section highlights the product details, pros and cons of Jabsons Chatpata Moong Jor :
Product highlights (Price, packaging, and appearance)
The cost of a 150 gm pack is INR 70. It comes with a shelf life of 6 months. Currently, Jabsons Chatpata Moong Jor is available in a green color pack. However, at the time of our review we received the orange pack.
Jabsons Moong Jor has a flat and thin shape. The flattened green gram is visible which looks slightly oily. These have a tinge of yellow color which is due to the presence of turmeric.
Our Findings
Taste
Taste-wise, it hits all the right notes. The bold chatpata flavor is the highlight here. It is well seasoned with salt and has a nice tanginess. The spiciness is just right. Neither too much, nor too less.
Many packaged snacks tend to develop a very stale oily taste. This wasn’t the case here.
Texture
Crisped to perfection, the texture of this namkeen is commendable. None of them were soft or soggy.
Taste and crunch are indicators for freshness.
What’s the best part? During our review process, we prepared a quick moong jor chatpata chaat wherein we mixed onions, tomatoes, green chili, red chili powder, salt, chat masala, and lemon juice. The crunch of this namkeen was intact despite mixing in other juicy/wet ingredients.
Ingredients
Moong dal (green gram), refined corn oil (sprayed for seasoning), refined iodized salt are the main ingredients used here.
In addition, it has black pepper powder, ajwain (carom seeds), turmeric powder, refined iodized salt, chilly powder, mango powder, citric acid (E3300), black pepper, and rock salt.
The quantity of oil used is not mentioned. We liked that the ingredient list is fairly clean.

Coming to calories and fat. Per serve, i.e, 30 grams (1 small katori approx) of this namkeen provides 140 calories (467 Kcal/100 gms) and 5.7 grams of fat (19 gms/100 gms).
