Summary

LiL’Goodness Prebiotic Break Shakes are definitely a healthier alternative to other sugar-loaded milkshakes available in the market. These are lower in sugar but delicious, nonetheless. Offering over 7 gms of protein and 155-165 calories per bottle, we say these are definitely worth trying.

The one thing we all looked forward to as children- that TALL glass of chilled milkshake. Chug-chug-sluurrrp. This was the ultimate joy when we didn’t understand the concept of calories and ingredients.

Today, as we’ve become more conscious of what we consume, choosing better, more nutrient-dense, and natural products is the priority. And that’s where brands that provide healthier alternatives, like LiL’Goodness, comes into play. Earlier we reviewed the brand’s Gummies and gave it a green signal.

LiL’Goodness launched India’s first prebiotic milkshake in two flavors – chocolate and vanilla. The highlight of these shakes is that they contain prebiotics. What is the source of prebiotics used? For our LiL’Goodness Assorted Prebiotic Break Shake review, we tried both the flavors and tested them for their taste, consistency, ingredients, and nutrition label.

Here’s all that you need to know about the prebiotic milkshakes by Lil’ Goodness.

Our Review Factors

The brand makes certain bold claims like ‘40% less sugar’, ‘power of Zinc’, and the fact that the milkshakes improve gut health.

In our LiL’Goodness Assorted Prebiotic Break Shake review, we set out to find the ingredient that makes these shakes a source of prebiotics, additives if any, how palatable they are if the sugar content is lower, their consistency and flavor of vanilla/chocolate.

1. Flavor

Be it milkshakes, icecreams, or cupcakes, vanilla and chocolate are classic flavors which often end up tasting very artificial. Did the brand get them right? What about the sweetness? Balanced, too low or too high?

They also use oats, which are primarily bland, but have earthy undertones. Was this prominent in the flavor of the milkshakes?

2. Consistency

Milkshakes are loved for the creamy, thick consistency they have. This rich consistency is what makes them so satiating and filling.

How did LiL’Goodness fare on this parameter?

3. Nutrition Quotient

Ingredients

Specifics regarding the quality and quantity of ingredients used are always appreciated. Are these details mentioned? We checked for the ingredients added to sweeten it, the source of prebiotics used and if it contains anything undesirable.

How are prebiotics different from probiotics? Do you know how prebiotics benefit our systems?

Prebiotics are fiber-rich foods that act as food for human microflora (gut-friendly bacteria). Probiotics are foods that contain live bacteria and help to maintain/improve the balance of these microorganisms in human bodies.

LiL’Goodness Assorted Prebiotic Break Shake Flavours – Detailed Review

This section discusses all our findings and reveals the variant we liked better.

1. Vanilla Milkshake

In addition to the reclosable lid, the bottle had an air-tight seal. This not only prevents leakage but also prevents oxygen from entering the beverage, thus keeping it fresh for longer. The label clearly listed out all relevant details, including the ingredient list and nutrition label.

The main ingredients include double toned milk, sugar, fructooligosaccharide, skimmed milk powder, oats, stabilizer (INS 340, INS 452, INS 418), and emulsifier (INS 466, INS 460(I)), vitamins, and minerals.

What is the prebiotic ingredient in this milkshake?

Fructo-oligosaccharide and oats are the primary prebiotics added. Oats contain beta-glucan which is a unique type of fiber. Both beta-glucan and fructooligosaccharides are non-digestible components that support and nourish healthy gut bacteria.

Here are some details on the nutrition label. As per the pack, a 200-ml serving of LiL’Goodness Prebiotic Vanilla Break Shake offers –

  • 154.56 Kcal of energy
  • 24.42 g of carbohydrates (9.4 g of which is sugar)
  • 7 g of protein
  • 3.2 g of fat
  • 1.84 mg of Zinc
  • 67 mcg of Vitamin A
  • 1.38 mcg of Vitamin D
  • 201 mg of calcium.

This prebiotic shake fulfils the RDA requirements as follows-

  • 10-14% of protein
  • 61% for children, 18-20% for adults of Zinc
  • 11.1% of Vitamin A
  • Vitamin D – 13.8%
  • Calcium – 33.5% (children), 22.2% (adults).

We poured the milkshake in a glass to gauge the appearance and consistency. The color resembled that of a light condensed milk and the consistency was smooth, flowy, and overall desirable. It featured a non-industrial vanilla aroma. It felt quite smooth on the palate.

Taste-wise, this felt like sipping on melted vanilla ice-cream- delicious. It was refreshing and sweet. Unlike a lot of vanilla milkshakes in the market, the sweetness isn’t overwhelming.

This also contains a nature-identical flavoring substance (chocolate).

  • 7 g of protein
  • 3.2 g of fat.
  • 2.72 mg of Zinc

  • 91% of the Zinc RDA for children and 28-30% for adults.
  • It meets 9.3% of the Vitamin A RDA
  • 14.4% of Vitamin D.
  • As for calcium, it meets 23-33% of the RDA for adults and children, respectively.
  • It meets 10 (adults) – 14 (children)% of the daily protein requirement.

This variant had a flowy, smooth consistency and is thick like most chocolate milkshakes. It features the classic dark-brown chocolate milkshake color with no stale/artificial aroma.

The flavor of chocolate in the shake is well-rounded and doesn’t taste bitter or overly sweet. For people who like thick chocolate shakes, the one by Lil’ Goodness is a good option.
