Price + Packaging
Our review pack of 200 gm is priced at Rs. 50. It has a shelf life of one year. The outer pack is brown and orange in color. The best part is that the pack is resealable which makes it convenient to store after use.
How To Use Them?
The back of the pack mentions a recipe for preparing aloo paratha. In addition, it also mentions other possible uses including – pav bhaji, cutlets, vada and other recipes where there is a requirement of mashed potatoes. You can also use them as a binding agent.
How We Made It?
We prepared aloo tikkis using these instant mashed potatoes. The primary reason why we decided to prepare tikkis is to gauge the texture in a better way. For our review process, we followed the below mentioned steps:
- We started by adding in ½ cup of the dry potato flakes.
- Then slowly and gradually we added warm water until it turned into a mashed potato dough-like consistency.
- The tikki was seasoned using basic ingredients – cumin, salt and red chili powder. We used Orika’s red chili powder here.
We cooked them on Vinod’s non-stick tawa using a small amount of ghee.
We chose not to season the tikki with too much masalas as we wanted to examine the actual flavor of the potato.

Cooking Process
We found this instant mashed potato to be super convenient. To rehydrate these potatoes all you need is to add some warm water. We really appreciate how within a second a perfect potato dough was formed.
Not to forget, shaping the aloo tikkis using these potatoes was super easy.
Taste
Fresh and starchy! These instant mashed potatoes taste excellent. It does not have any off-putting or stale taste.
Texture
Moving on, let’s talk about the texture. The raw potato flakes were thin, crisp and free from any moisture. As we added warm water, these became slightly sticky and starchy (which is a basic characteristic of potatoes).
