Seekh kebabs are skewered, cylindrical kebabs that are made using minced meat. The meat used to make these kebabs can be mutton, chicken, or lamb. Awadhi seekh kebabs have a rustic look and feel that is enjoyed by a large section of people in India, especially in the Northern belt.
There is a lot that you can do with a bag of Frozen Chicken Seekh Kababs. Have them as it is, pair it with some spicy green chutney and lacha pyaaz (onion rings) or turn it into a roomali roll. We picked up three popular brands of frozen chicken seekh kebab in the Indian market and tasted them for their taste and texture. After going through a copious amount of seekh kebabs in a day, we chose Venky’s Chicken Sheek Kabab as our Top Pick. The juiciness and hearty meatiness in these kebabs were unmatched.

Mishry Top Pick – Venky’s Chicken Sheek Kabab
Why did we choose Venky’s Chicken Sheek Kabab as our Top Pick?
Delicious and succulent! Our Top Pick – Venky’s Chicken Sheek Kabab has a lovely meatiness that is unequaled. We chose this as our winner because this seekh kebab is the most appetizing, juiciest frozen chicken seekh kabab.
Top Pick
Venky’s Chicken Seekh Kebab is the tastiest, most succulent frozen chicken seekh kabab.
MRP – Rs 310/-*
Net weight – 500 grams

The seasoning of this chicken seekh kebab is very balanced and the mild hints of garlic and green chilies are yum! Tiny bits of onions provide a nice texture within these meaty kebabs.
Size-wise, these are the thickest, chunkiest chicken seekh kebabs. They cooked well on medium-low heat. This ensured uniform cooking from within as well.
The list of ingredients mentions the use of egg, which is added as a binder along with breadcrumbs. The Venky’s Chicken Sheek Kabab has the least amount of calories. 100 grams of these chicken seekh kebabs provide 147.6 Kcal of energy.
A 500-gram bag of Venky’s Sheek Kabab is priced at Rs 310/-.
Why did Chicken Seekh Kebab from ITC Master Chef and Godrej Yummiez not win?
Even though the ITC Master Chef Chicken Seekh Kebab was juicy, they did not win because we found the chicken flavor to be a bit lacking. Moreover, the spice levels were so high that it camouflaged any chicken flavor that was present. The breadcrumbed top also lowered the textural feel of a meaty seekh-kebab. When we reviewed these chicken seekh kebabs individually a while back, we liked them. However, in a comparative position, these did not fare as well. A 500-gram pack of ITC Master Chef Chicken Seekh Kebab is priced at Rs 300/-. It has 63.8% chicken meat and 100 grams of chicken seekh provides 181 Kcal of energy. For lovers, of super-spicy seekh kababs, these could be a good try.
Unfortunately, nothing worked for the Godrej Yummiez Chicken Lucknowi Seekh Kebab. The taste and texture failed to impress. The chicken flavor we were looking for was missing. The kebab is a little dry and dense which doesn’t come close to the benchmark set for a good quality chicken seekh kebab. A 400-gram pack of Godrej Yummiez Chicken Lucknowi Seekh Kebab is priced at Rs 245/-. It has 64% chicken meat and 100 grams of chicken seekh provides 171 Kcal of energy.
Our Review Process
On a gloomy weekday, our test kitchen was bursting with the aroma of meaty, succulent cylindrical seekh kebabs that made us really REALLY hungry. Here is how we found the best tasting Frozen Chicken Seekh Kababs for you.
Who Is This Review For?
Frozen food is for anyone who seeks convenience. Suddenly hungry? Frozen food to the rescue. Ill-timed meaty cravings? This Frozen Chicken Seekh Kabab review will come in handy. This review is for everyone who stocks up on frozen food regularly and likes eating seekh kebabs.
How We Picked Brands
We picked brands that are available easily in local grocery stores and on online shopping portals. We chose the variants that are labeled as ‘frozen chicken seekh kabab/kebab’, no matter what the style is. Kebabs made using other meats like mutton or lamb were not considered for this review.
Brands We Picked
Our contenders included –
- Venky’s Chicken Sheek Kabab
- ITC Master Chef Chicken Seekh Kebab
- Godrej Yummiez Chicken Lucknowi Seekh Kebab
The Parameters
For our review of the best Frozen Chicken Seekh Kabab, we set three prime parameters –
Taste – How is the seasoning of the chicken seekh kebabs? Is there any chicken flavor or is it lost due to excessive seasoning? Any dominant spice or herb? What about salt levels? How meaty is the mouthfeel of the kebab?
Texture – How well are the seekh kebabs made? Are they densely packed or is it fleshy? This parameter also included us gauging the juiciness of the meat. How is the seekh kebab’s texture on the surface? Does the texture of the seekh kebabs come close to the texture of a freshly made seekh kebab?
Calories – Why did we consider calories in a frozen chicken seekh kabab? Calories can be a clear indicator of the binders that have gone in the making of the kebabs.
It would not have been fair on our part to compare a frozen chicken seekh kabab to a fresh, off-the-grill seekh kebab, that requires hours of marination. This is why we kept a sizeable margin while tasting the frozen ones.
We also kept in mind factors such as ingredients list, the chicken percentage used in the seekh kebabs, pricing, shape, and size of the kebabs in mind while looking for the best Frozen Chicken Seekh Kabab. But, ultimately, it was taste and texture that were the determining factors.
How We Reviewed
We divided our review into two different stages –
Stage 1 included dry inspection which included noting down the shape, size, and texture of the seekh kebabs before and after thawing.
Stage 2 included cooking them. During this stage, we noticed how easy or hard are the seekh kebabs to cook. Do they stick to the tawa? Are they easy to pick and flip? How evenly do they cook?
After reading the instructions on the back of the pack, we chose the cooking method that was common across all the brands – the tawa cook method. We made all the chicken seekh kebabs in vegetable oil on a non-stick tawa. After the cooking procedure was complete, we began our blind taste test. We tasted the seekh kebabs with homemade green chutney.
We blind tasted them while they were hot and again after sometime after they were a tad bit cold to see if the texture altered our experience.
